Sydney is home to many types of accommodations that cater to different types of travellers, from business executives to leisure vacationers. These accommodations offer amenities and other added services that match the needs of their target market. Regardless of your purpose, you will surely find the ideal place for you to stay in Sydney.

For backpackers, hostels are one of the more popular choices. This type of accommodation offers affordable rates and provides travellers with a platform for interaction. Hostels might be intimidating, especially if you have never stayed in one before, but they can actually add colour to your travel story.

A place to build new friendships

Hostels are perfect for leisure travellers who go on trips to meet new people. Typically, hostels offer shared rooms for their guests and thus promote the spirit of interaction and socialization. With many backpackers choosing hostels for their accommodation, you are likely to meet someone who shares your interests, particularly in travel and culture. By taking advantage of the group activities arranged by your hostel or by hanging out at the hostel bar, you can mingle with other travellers and possibly find new friends.

A place to try new things

Hostels often hold events and activities that are meant to let their guests go around the town while connecting with new people. By staying in a hostel, you will have access to unique opportunities that will enrich your experience further. Many hostels often offer recommendations of places to visit, restaurants to try, and activities to do. You also might be able to connect with people who know their way around the city. This can save you a ton of money by learning about ways to travel/live on a budget in the city itself.

A place to understand different cultures

Hostels are ideal venues to learn about not only the culture of the place you are visiting but also the culture of your fellow travellers. With hostels catering to backpackers from all over the world, you will gain a broad perspective as you interact with people of different backgrounds. It will be like travelling to another country without having to leave the hostel.

A place to save money

One of the biggest benefits of staying at a hostel in Sydney is the amount of money you will save. Hostel rates are generally cheaper than hotel rates, especially with guests having the option to stay in dorm rooms, in which case, they only need to pay for the bed they will sleep in. Renting a bed or sharing a room with a few other travellers is obviously less costly than availing of a hotel room.

Sydney is a beautiful city that continues to attract travellers from all walks of life. If you are keen on visiting this vibrant city on a limited budget, then you should look into booking a bed at a hostel. It will considerably reduce your expenses without limiting your travel experience.

Situated in the state of New South Wales is the city of Sydney. It’s the most populated city in Australia and a popular tourist destination because to its exciting attractions.

If you’re visiting Sydney for the first time, you need to know the best places to visit in order to truly enjoy the trip. So, without further ado, here are the top five must-visit destinations in Sydney.

Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is at the top of our list. Brace yourself for a visual treat. Opened in October 1973, the iconic landmark has accommodated millions of visitors from around the world.

Located on the waterfront of Sydney Harbour, the Sydney Opera House is a gargantuan brown structure with a white, multi-level curved roofline that is designed to look like sails (some would argue that it looks more like a shell). Either way, this building is a cultural centre that is home to Australia’s best operas, orchestras, ballet and theatre.

There are many ways to enjoy your visit to the Sydney Opera House. If you have a couple of hours to spare, then you can join the regular behind-the-scene tours that will even give you the opportunity to stand on the stage and view the world through the eyes of an actor.

If, however, you want a good view of the Opera House, simply sit on one of its many steps and enjoy the view. The Sydney Opera House is also a regular place for “Sydneysiders.” The locals love to hang out with their families. There are cafes, restaurants and coffee shops, too.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Nicknamed “The Coathanger” or “The Bridge”, the Sydney Harbour Bridge opened in 1932. This bridge is over 1 km long, connecting Sydney’s North Shore to the Central Business District (CBD) area.

One of the most amazing things about this bridge is that you can walk on it for free. The bridge has 8 road lanes (4 on each direction), plus 2 railway tracks that run beneath the main roadway. Additionally, there is a pedestrian walkway and a bicycle lane on opposite sides of the bridge, both of which are open to the public.

The views, when standing in the middle of the Harbour Bridge, are magnificent. You can view the CBD, the Opera House and the Circular Quay shopping area, to name just a few landmarks.

If you want something more adventurous, you can pay for a Harbour Bridge climb in which you get to walk over the top of the bridge’s tall arches. You’ll be joining other people, climbing 134 metres above sea level. If you’re afraid of heights, you don’t need to fear as you are safely tethered to the bridge every step of the way.

Bondi Beach

After you have had your fill of climbing adventures, it is time to head off to one of the most famous beaches in Sydney: Bondi Beach. Bondi Beach is located just 7 km from the CBD, and you can reach it by bus, train, taxi or car.

This beach is so famous that a television series was inspired by it. The opportunity to bathe in the sun while sinking into the golden, white sands is priceless. Bondi Beach is a popular tourist attraction because it fits every traveller’s budget.

If you’re thirsty and hungry, there are plenty of restaurants and ice cream shops to visit. Going out for a swim? Remember to stay between the yellow and red flags for safety. In case of emergency, just raise your arm to alert the gorgeous lifeguards.

Darling Harbour

Another great place to check out is Darling Harbour. The Darling Harbour complex is located on the shores of Cockle Bay. You can reach it by ferry, train, bus and taxi. If you have your own car, remember that public parking isn’t free.

Darling Habour is home to the Sydney Aquarium. If you feel like watching a movie, there’s an IMAX theatre as well. There’s also the Chinese Gardens, Maritime Museum and plenty of cruise boats that you can ride to enjoy an exquisite dining experience.

In addition, Darling Harbour is a great spot to watch one of Sydney’s famous fireworks displays. More than 1 million people crowd the harbour to witness the magnificent fireworks on New Year’s Eve.

Taronga Zoo

A visit to Sydney would not be complete without a trip to the famous Taronga Zoo. One of the best ways to get there is to hop on board a ferry at Circular Quay. Why? Because you’ll get to see Sydney from afar. The ferry ride is only 12 minutes long, and the ferries usually depart every 30 minutes.

The Taronga Zoo is home to about 2,600 animals of 340 species. That’s a lot of animals to see. The zoo is open 365 days a year including Christmas. However, be warned that the zoo gets a little busy during school holiday periods. Don’t forget to bring your camera. You can also pay to have a photo taken with adorable animals. .
